Welcoming Austin Atwood to SVC’s Ownership Team
The past year has been a pivotal one for SVC, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026.
Recent operational changes have reshaped how the company shows up for customers and crews, and its leadership structure must evolve to match.
With that in mind, SVC is adding a familiar name to its ownership bench: Austin Atwood. Customers, vendors, and crew members already know him as SVC’s trusted estimator and project manager. Starting this year, he’ll also serve as a co-owner while continuing his project management and estimating work.
Austin will share ownership responsibilities alongside Steve Thornton, who became sole owner in 2025.
This announcement formalizes what has already been taking place over the past few years: Austin has been the trusted voice helping guide and lead the day-to-day decisions and project delivery that keeps SVC moving forward.
Improving How Projects Are Planned and Delivered
Austin joined SVC in 2021 to strengthen estimating, improve how jobs were planned and managed, and keep pace with a growing mix of commercial and industrial work.
His construction management degree, decade of industry experience, and hands-on work with complex projects have been central to how he supports SVC’s teams and projects.
As Austin settled in, he quickly became the person clients, partners, and suppliers turned to with questions about scope, timelines, and next steps. Internally, he was also the one helping evaluate new opportunities, weighing risks, and talking about where to invest next.
As Austin’s role expanded, so did the kind of work SVC sought out. Together, Austin and Steve have been moving the company further into design-build projects so SVC can help guide early decision-making. This helps owners make informed decisions, avoid costly redesigns, and keep schedules realistic.

Bringing Austin into the ownership fold is a natural extension of how he’s already been working. It also helps formalize his role in helping establish business direction.
For SVC’s crews and customers, the core of how the company operates won’t change.
Austin will continue to serve as estimator and project manager, working closely with clients, field leaders, and subcontractors.
Steve will continue to oversee the company’s direction and relationships throughout the community and region.
